Laurel Blessing Baskets 2025 Brings Hope to 173 Families

On Wednesday, November 19th, the Laurel community once again proved what’s possible when neighbors come together with heart and purpose. The third annual Laurel Blessing Baskets event provided a total of 173 food baskets to local families across seven elementary schools — just in time for Thanksgiving.

Organized by residents, supported by the Laurel MD Connect Facebook group, and fueled by dozens of generous donors, this grassroots effort has grown into one of Laurel’s most meaningful annual traditions. Each basket was filled with essential groceries and Thanksgiving staples — hand-delivered to families at:

  • Bond Mill Elementary
  • Laurel Elementary
  • Harrison Elementary
  • Scotchtown Hills Elementary
  • Oaklands Elementary
  • Montpelier Elementary
  • CMIT North Elementary

Small Acts, Big Impact

This year’s total of 173 baskets — while short of the 220 goal set based on last year’s record — still represents 173 families who were seen, supported and loved by their community. And behind every basket were neighbors, churches, businesses and families who decided to give generously in a season when generosity matters most.

The Laurel Blessing Baskets tradition is more than just food. It’s a growing movement built on compassion, collaboration, and the shared belief that no family should feel forgotten during the holidays. Thank you to everyone who donated, packed, prayed, or showed up. The impact is real — and it’s just getting started.
